As a six-year-old, Calvin certainly has a wild imagination. He often pictures himself as a dinosaur terrorizing the earth, and of course he's got his other identities, like Spaceman Spiff and Tracer Bullet.
Of course, that imagination can get him into trouble. On more than one occasion, he just does something because he's interested in seeing what happens. This is one such case. Whacking nails into a coffee table can provide very little good for anyone, other than a small child satiating his or her curiosity. When Calvin's mom runs over in horror (as any mother would), Calvin doesn't understand why she doesn't understand what he's up to, and why she doesn't support it. It's great.
